My 2015 method for unclogging a sink involved a coat hanger and a lot of hope, but after a plumber in Canyon charged me $200, I now own a $40 drain snake.
Anyone else have a 'before and after' tool that saved your sanity and wallet?

My buddy had the same "coat hanger and hope" phase with his shower drain.

Oh man, did your buddy @pat781 also graduate to the "baking soda volcano" method that just makes a bigger mess? I spent a whole weekend convinced a straightened hanger was the answer, only to pull up a gross hairball that looked like a wet hamster. Felt like a genius for about five seconds before it all just clogged again.
