Rant: Stop painting over rusty gutters, it never works
Honestly, I see it all over the neighborhood, folks just slap a coat of cheap enamel over rusty gutters and think theyre done. I tried that on my own place back in March, spent a full Saturday scraping and priming, and by June the rust was bleeding through again in three spots. The issue is the rust is still active underneath, you gotta cut out the bad sections or use a rust converter first, not just hide it. I finally replaced the front run with 20 feet of new seamless gutter for $180 and it took less than a morning. Has anyone else wasted a whole weekend on this same mistake, or do you just bite the bullet and replace right away?
