The one time I let ChatGPT write my whole email pitch for me
I was running late for a deadline last week and decided to just copy paste a client email into an AI tool and hit send without editing. The AI made the whole thing sound super professional and used a bunch of big words like 'optimize' which I never use. The client wrote back saying they loved my fresh perspective and asked if I had help writing it because it 'didn't sound like me at all'. That caught me off guard because I thought the AI would just blend in with my usual style. What I realized is that AI can actually make you sound too smooth and people notice when your voice changes completely. Now I only use AI for rough drafts and always rewrite at least half of it in my own words. Has anyone else had a client or boss call them out for an AI sounding message?

400 bucks says that client uses AI too, just better at hiding it.

Oh come ON, you're blaming the AI when you literally hit send without reading? That's on YOU, not the technology. If you'd spent two minutes editing it to tone down the corporate jargon, nobody would have noticed a thing. I use AI all the time for client emails and I just swap out the fluff words for my own. No one has EVER called me out because I actually look at what I'm sending before I send it. The AI didn't "make you sound too smooth" - you just didn't bother to make it sound like yourself. Honestly this is like blaming your car for crashing when you fell asleep at the wheel.
