Just realized everyone talking about AI taking creative jobs ignores how much boring spreadsheet work it's already eating
I saw a local accounting firm lay off 4 data entry people last month because their new AI tool can process invoices faster than any human, but nobody's talking about that since it's not as flashy as art or writing, so why do we keep focusing on the wrong jobs?

Why does boring office work get ignored when it's the first thing AI actually replaces? Data entry and invoice processing are the low hanging fruit, not art. The layoffs are real, they just don't make for good headlines.

Got an old coworker who spent 4 months training a bot to handle our expense reports and then got laid off anyway because the company said the bot made her role redundant. jadej50 is right that these quiet layoffs are happening everywhere, nobody's writing articles about payroll clerks losing work to a script. Is anyone else seeing this stuff fly under the radar in their own offices?

Totally. Saw three clerks axed after some software took over our vendor payments last quarter. Brutal.
