Overheard my manager say AI will handle our data entry by next quarter
I caught her telling HR that they're cutting our team of 12 down to 5. Has anyone else's company started having these quiet conversations without including the actual workers?

my friend's going through this exact thing at a logistics company. they went from 8 people doing invoices to just 3 now, and management didn't even tell them until they found out through the grapevine lol. it's wild how they act like this is just some simple switch.

8 people to 3" is insane. @the_terry your friend's story is basically what happened at my old place, they cut the whole billing team in half and just said "learn to use this new software or leave.

Are they going to pay the remaining 5 people triple since they're now doing the work of 12? Probably not, right? It's always funny how companies think "streamlining" magically makes the remaining workers faster and more efficient without any extra support or pay. What happens when someone calls in sick? Do they expect the AI to cover phones and handle customer questions too? I'd start updating my resume if I were you, because once they cut a team that deep, the other 5 are usually next in line a few months later. It's like they think we can't see the writing on the wall.
