Found out that 737NG flap cables used to be a 2-person job back in the 90s
Spent 20 minutes trying to tighten one on a 2002 model yesterday and nearly lost my grip, then an old timer told me they used to have two guys and a special jig for it. Anyone else run into old procedures that make modern solo work feel harder than it should be?

Preach, @logan658. Its like every "improvement" just shifts the burden onto the guy actually doing the work. I remember helping my uncle rebuild a carburetor on an old Chevy back in the day - he had a special puller tool and we both held the intake gasket while it seated. Now its just you, a youtube video filmed on a potato, and your fingers crossed that you dont strip a bolt. Another thing that kills me is how they eliminated the "helper" position on brake jobs. Used to be one person spun the hub while the other checked the rotor runout. Now youre doing a balancing act trying to hold a dial indicator while cranking the wheel by yourself. They call it "streamlined" but we all know what it really is.

Streamlined" is just code for "good luck doing three jobs at once." Same old story.

Oh yeah, that sounds about right. Nothing like finding out the "efficiency improvements" over the last 30 years just mean YOU get to do what used to take two people plus a fancy tool. Progress, baby.
