Vent: The entire fleet of Cessna 172s came back with the same fuel selector issue
Spent all Friday swapping out eight selector valves because someone used the wrong type of lube during the last annual. Anyone else run into a whole line of planes with the same maintenance error?
Man, that's brutal. I read an article once about a single bad batch of cheap hardware store bolts being used in a repair. It grounded a dozen planes across three states before they tracked it down. Makes you realize how one tiny corner cut can ripple out into a massive, expensive problem real fast.
Wait... isn't that kind of the beauty of it though? One tiny screwup and suddenly you see how fragile the whole system is, keeps everyone honest. I'd rather know about the bad bolts than have them floating around out there causing problems.
Classic. That's the kind of mistake that makes you want to find the guy and hand him a tube of the right grease. Bet the shop is real popular this week. Sounds like a long weekend turning wrenches on the same stupid part. At least you got a good story out of it.
