Dropped $800 on a radon mitigation system in Calgary last fall and my basement levels went from 180 to 12
Did anyone else get sticker shock from the quotes or was it just me, and how low did yours end up getting?

Doesn't it feel like fixing one thing just shows you how many other problems are hiding in plain sight?

Wait, so now I gotta worry about my bathroom fan digging up radon too? Great, another thing to lie awake at 3am thinking about. I swear my house is just a money pit with drywall and windows at this point.

And then you start checking everything else, right @phoenix_bailey? My readings were similar to yours - paid about the same last spring, went from 160 to 15. But now I'm looking at my sump pump weird, wondering if the soil gas's getting in somewhere else too. Had a buddy who dropped 900 on mitigation and then found out his bathroom fan was pulling air from the crawlspace instead of outside. It's like fixing the radon just opens up a whole catalog of other stuff you've been ignoring for years.

My neighbor paid 1100 and his levels only dropped to 40, turned out they sealed the slab but missed a crack behind the drywall in his storage room. I'd check any spots where pipes come through the floor too, those little gaps can suck in a ton of soil gas even after mitigation. Sometimes the guys rushing the job just put in the fan and call it done without tracking down every hidden entry point.
