Camping near Sedona and the stars just... stopped moving for a minute.

I was out in the Coconino National Forest last month, watching the clear night sky. All the stars froze in place, then slid west together like a single sheet for about ten seconds before going back to normal. Has anyone else seen something like that in the desert?

Caseythompson might be onto something with the brain checking out idea. Camping messes with your sleep and staring at stars for hours can play tricks. Could've been a thin, high cloud moving with the wind, making the stars look like they slid. Our brains are weird when tired, filling in gaps with strange stuff.

That sliding motion blake792 mentioned is super specific. Did you feel any vertigo or disorientation when it happened, like your own sense of balance got messed up? That detail could rule out just a cloud or tired eyes.

Classic Sedona. The stars probably just paused to admire their own reflection in a vortex. Maybe the whole sky was buffering, waiting for a better cell signal to download the next constellation. You definitely saw something, but my money's on a weird cloud layer or your brain finally checking out from all that peace and quiet.
