Grandma blames aliens for lost TV remote
She swore the aliens took it during a blackout. We found it under the couch a week later, but she still blames them. Now we hide the remotes to mess with her.

Blair692 has a point, I used to think it was just stubbornness.

My grandma does this with tech stuff too! Always blaming "a glitch" when she just clicked the wrong thing. It's like our brains would rather believe in aliens than admit we lost something simple.

Totally get this with my own grandpa. He will swear the computer deleted his email when he just archived it by accident. Makes me laugh every time. There's something about that generation where admitting a simple mistake feels worse than inventing a whole tech mystery. Guess it's a pride thing at their age.

It's not just about pride, it's about how they learned things. My dad's the same way. He was taught that machines follow exact rules, so if something goes wrong it must be the machine's fault. Riverh49 mentioned stubbornness, but I see it as a totally different way of thinking. They trust the tool more than their own action on it, which is kind of sweet in a backwards way. We grew up knowing we probably clicked wrong, but their first instinct is to trust the device worked right.
