Rant: A guy on Reddit told me my sighting story was full of holes

I posted about seeing a triangular craft over Sacramento last June, and some user 'Rocket_Sci' tore it apart. He said my details were too vague and I should log the exact time, altitude estimate, and weather conditions. Now I keep a small notebook in my glovebox, I write down everything even if I think I'm crazy. Has anyone else changed how they report stuff because of online criticism?

@reese_lee9, did logging that stuff ever actually make you feel better about it or just more frustrated?

Look, 1:30 AM on a Tuesday with zero clouds and no wind is about as clear as it gets. I logged that myself once for a light I couldn't explain, and the guy who demanded it still said I was making it up. You can write down the exact phase of the moon and he'll just say you're trying too hard.

That thing you mentioned about writing down the moon phase just reminds me of a story I heard on a late night radio show once. Some guy tracked every single flight path, satellite, and even the ISS location for like two months to prove a light wasn't any of those things. They still told him he was "seeing things" and needed to get more sleep. It's like some people just WANT to believe you're either lying or crazy, no matter how much proof you give them. Hard evidence doesn't matter if they've already made up their mind about what you saw.
