Rant: That time a manga chapter's art style flipped overnight

I was reading this series for like 2 years straight, and then one chapter last month the faces went from detailed and sharp to round and simple. Like the artist either got new tools or just gave up halfway through. Did the mangaka switch assistants or something, or is this burnout hitting other series too?

Art style evolution shows growth not burnout, simple designs often mean better storytelling focus.

Oh totally agree! A simpler style can actually force the creator to get more creative with the story since they can't hide behind fancy details. Have you noticed that in any of your favorite series?

That "can't hide behind fancy details" part is spot on. Simple art makes you pay more attention to the actual plot and character writing. It strips away the distraction and leaves the story standing on its own two feet.
