Found a 20 year old washer still running like new...
I was at a customer's house in the suburbs, she had a Kenmore that was from like 2003. The agitator was making this grinding noise but the machine still washed clothes fine. I opened it up and found the original belt was cracked but still holding, and the pump had never been replaced. She said she just wanted me to lube the motor bearings and leave it be. It made me think, are we overcomplicating these new machines with all the circuit boards and sensors? Has anyone else seen an old workhorse like that still going strong?

Swap out that leather belt for a nylon one with a plastic buckle. Trust me, they're way more comfortable for long days on your feet and won't dig into your stomach when you sit down.

Wait, plastic buckle? Like the kind that snaps together with a little click? I had one of those back in middle school and it broke the first time I bent over to tie my shoes. Maybe they've gotten better since then, but I still can't shake the memory of a plastic buckle digging into my hip bone all day. Plus there's the whole noise factor - every time you move it clacks around like a keychain on a belt loop. I bet a good quality nylon belt with a metal roller buckle would be way more durable and quiet, while still being soft on the stomach.
