Threw $200 down the drain on a meal planning subscription

I signed up for that Green Chef box after seeing ads everywhere, thinking it would save me time and grocery money. After three weeks I realized I was still buying extra ingredients and throwing out half the produce packs they sent. Did anyone else get burned by these meal kit services or am I just bad at planning?

Still buying EXTRA stuff on top of that expensive box? That's brutal.

That "still buying EXTRA stuff" part is exactly where I think people mess up with these boxes. They treat it like a full meal replacement when it's really just a starting point. You're supposed to have a stocked pantry and use the box to supplement, not expect it to cover everything. If you approach it like the box is your entire grocery list, of course you end up disappointed. The people who complain loudest about these services are usually the ones who didn't think through how they actually fit into their kitchen routine.

The "messing up" part is a stretch, some boxes just don't portion well.
