Finally got a clear shot of the Orion Nebula after wasting $80 on a cheap filter that just made everything hazy

I learned the hard way that a basic light pollution filter from a no-name brand can't compete with the city glow and just washes out detail, so what's a decent mid-range filter that won't break the bank?

Man, I feel that pain. I grabbed a cheap UHC filter last year and it just turned my whole view into a weird green soup. What finally worked for me was saving up for an Astronomik CLS filter. It's not the absolute top tier, but the difference was crazy, like someone just wiped the haze off the lens. The nebula structure actually popped out instead of looking like a faint smudge.

Oh, that's the same lesson I keep learning with tools. You buy the cheap version first, then you end up buying the good one anyway.
