Self-checkout machines made me believe automation helps

I hear a lot of people say self-checkout is stealing cashier jobs. But at my local store, I've seen something else. The staff now focus on helping customers with complex issues instead of scanning items. This means better service for tricky returns or questions. The system isn't perfect, it can be slow when items don't scan right. But overall, I believe it's making the store run smoother. We need to look at how jobs change, not just disappear.

Wait, it just means fewer jobs for real people.

But what if it frees people up for better work? My friend who used to write product descriptions now trains the AI and makes way more. Maybe the boring stuff going away isn't all bad.

Great, just what we need. My roomba already does a better job vacuuming than I do. It hasn't once forgotten and left the dog's half eaten kibble in the corner for a week. Pretty sure it's after my job next.

Seriously, what happens when these things start writing posts too? @jademitchell is right about jobs, but they'll take the boring creative stuff first. My cousin's a copywriter and she's already sweating.
