Showerthought: I was training my own replacement and didn't even know it

For the past 8 months, I've been building these detailed process docs for my data entry job, thinking I was just being organized. My boss kept saying 'great work, this makes everything so clear.' Then yesterday, I saw a demo of a new software that automates the exact steps I wrote down. They're not training docs, they're a blueprint to cut my position. Has anyone else had this happen, where you realized you were basically writing the manual to get rid of your own job?

Brutal. That's a classic move, and it stings every time. Companies love to frame efficiency as a win-win until you see the writing on the wall. It's smart to document your work, but maybe keep the secret sauce in your head next time. Really sorry you're dealing with this.

Talk about a real "promote from within" situation.

Was I wrong about internal hires, @rowanhernandez? This changed my mind.
