Finally watched The Room for the first time - I get the hype now but also not really

So I finally watched The Room last night after hearing about it for like 10 years. I sat down with my buddy and some pizza, ready for the worst movie ever. And man... I was not prepared for how off everything feels. The acting is weird, the dialogue goes nowhere, and there's this random football scene that makes zero sense. But here's the thing - I laughed harder than I have at most comedies this year. Whole thing is like a trainwreck you can't look away from. Is it actually entertaining or am I just gaslighting myself into thinking bad is good? Anyone else get that weird feeling where you're not sure if you genuinely enjoyed it or just enjoyed making fun of it?

The part where he's talking about how his girlfriend Lisa "just can't be trusted" and then five minutes later they're laughing on the roof still breaks my brain. That movie has like THREE sex scenes that are basically the same exact thing with slightly different lighting. You're not gaslighting yourself though, the movie IS genuinely entertaining because it's so raw and weird. The big question is what was your reaction to the whole "I did not hit her" scene - did you laugh your ass off or did it make you uncomfortable?

Both honestly, that scene is pure Tommy.

Oh man, nobody's pointing out how that whole scene feels like a weird mirror of the roof moment - like Tommy's trying out different versions of reality in real time and we're just stuck watching him flip the switch.
