That $7 VHS tape of The Room I found at a thrift store in Omaha

I was rewatching it for fun and noticed a background extra clearly mouthing someone else's lines during a restaurant scene. Has anyone else caught weird stuff like that in a so-bad-it's-good movie?

Isn't it wild how the more you watch it the more you realize every extra is just a ghost actor?

Love that you caught that, stuff like that is what makes those movies so entertaining honestly. I've seen The Room a few times and I swear there's a new bizarre detail every single rewatch like that weird spoon picture or the terrible greenscreen. It's almost comforting knowing no movie will ever be that perfectly messy again lol.

Wait, I gotta push back on that a little! I actually think there's a difference here, @lily_torres31 - calling them "ghost actors" makes it sound like a choice or a style thing, but from what I've read about The Room's production, those extras were probably just given zero direction and told to improvise. The movie is a mess because Tommy Wiseau literally didn't know how to manage a set or even communicate with people. So when an extra is mouthing someone else's lines, it's not some weird artistic choice, it's just total chaos. I get why people find that stuff funny, but to me it feels more sad than endearing after a while. The whole thing is a trainwreck, sure, but I can't romanticize it as "perfectly messy" when it's really just someone's delusional vision falling apart in real time.
