My sourdough starter went crazy after I left it in the car on a 90-degree day in Phoenix.

I had to bake the whole thing into a massive, weirdly bubbly loaf because it overflowed its jar, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a starter react that fast to heat.

Left it in the car on a 90-degree day in Phoenix" yeah that will do it. I always thought starters were slow and steady. Mine went nuts on my warm kitchen counter once, doubled in like two hours. Heat just kicks the yeast into overdrive. Your massive bubbly loaf sounds like the only move, honestly. Bet it had some wild flavor.

My starter once tried to escape its jar after I left it near the oven vent. It looked like a science project gone wrong. I get what @charles640 is saying about the heat, because that thing was a bubbly monster. Had to bake it right then and the bread tasted like sourdough on turbo, super tangy and weirdly good.

Saw my friend's starter climb out like @umar49's, pure chaos.
