My manager's weekly bake rule is a total morale killer

Our team MUST bring baked goods for every Friday meeting. Last week, I produced a ROCK-hard loaf that embarrassed everyone. This forced baking adds unnecessary pressure and wastes work time. We should focus on our jobs, not oven failures, before this policy wrecks our team.

Take that rock hard loaf as a symbol of how forced 'fun' policies backfire. What's meant to build team spirit just creates anxiety and wastes hours people could use doing their actual jobs. Your manager probably thinks this builds morale, but it's just another pointless box to check that makes everyone resent Fridays.

That "pointless box to check" feeling is real. My attempt at forced fun was a cookie so bad it could have doubled as a coasters. Pretty sure that's the opposite of team building.

When you call it a 'pointless box to check', does that mean your manager is just following a rule without thinking? It sounds like the baking policy is more about appearances than actual team building. What would happen if someone just refused to bake, would the manager even notice the difference?
