TIL a single sourdough starter can weigh as much as a small dog

Honestly I was scrolling through some baking blogs last night and found this crazy stat. Apparently a well-fed sourdough starter that's been going for like 5 years can weigh over 30 pounds. I checked mine on the kitchen scale and it's only 8 pounds after 6 months. But the post said some people keep 40 pound starters in big ceramic crocks. Ngl now I'm worried my starter is gonna outgrow my fridge before summer. Has anyone else accidentally let their starter get too big to handle?

Mine's only 8 pounds and I'm already scared it's gonna stage a coup.

8 pounds plotting a coup" perfectly describes my starter, I’m pretty sure mine’s been giving me side-eye from the shelf this whole time.

8 pounds is rookie numbers honestly. Mine hit 22 and I had to split it into two jars just to keep it from busting the lid. Now I'm paranoid about it expanding overnight and cracking the glass.
