Unpopular opinion: I think handwritten thank you notes are better than emails for job interviews

I've been sending emails after interviews for years like everyone else. But last week I hand wrote a note to the manager at a local bakery I applied to. She actually called me back and said it stood out from the other 20 applicants. Found out later from a friend in HR that only 1 in 50 people do handwritten notes anymore. Has anyone else tried this and seen better results?

Handwritten notes are fine for a small bakery or a local shop, but for most corporate jobs it can come off a little too try-hard or old school, lol. Emails are faster and show you can work with modern tools, which is usually what they actually care about.

Right, because a law firm is exactly where you want to test out your DIY paper airplane skills. I'm sure the partners loved getting a handwritten note in between all their billable hours and paper cuts. It probably looked real professional next to their fancy engraved letterhead and all their legal jargon. But hey, congrats on the job, I guess that's the real punchline here.
