Buddy of mine out in Montana tried that last season. He sent his blades to a guy in Idaho who does custom beveling and heat treating. Said the sheep just dropped their wool like it was nothing after that, way less tugging and stress on the animals. He got through his flock almost two hours faster than the year before.

Gotta admit, I used to think custom sharpening was overkill and just a waste of money, lol. But hearing your buddy's story @king.eric totally changed my mind. The part about less stress on the sheep really hit me, I always felt like my old clippers were yanking too hard. A two hour speed boost is insane too, that's basically a whole afternoon back in your pocket. I might have to look into that beveling myself, even if it's just for next season. Sounds like the real deal.

You ever have one of those friends who's all "I can do it myself" until they really mess up? My buddy Tyler bought a used set of sheep shearers off craigslist and spent two weekends trying to sharpen the blades with a bench grinder. He ended up taking off way too much metal on one side and the clippers started skipping and pulling so bad the sheep were practically screaming. He had to borrow his dad's old gear midseason and paid a pro to fix his set. Took him half a year to admit he shoulda just sent em out in the first place.
