Two project trackers, 80 hours apart, one obvious winner

At my last job, my team used a shared spreadsheet for 6 months. Tasks vanished, statuses got overwritten, and we missed 14 deadlines. Then a new manager made us try a Kanban board, just a whiteboard with sticky notes at first. Same team, same projects, and the difference was night and day. We finished 3 releases in 8 weeks without a single missed date. Has anyone else seen a simple visual board beat out a fancy digital tool, or is it just my old office?
