I miss when TV shows actually had time to breathe between seasons

Watched a new show on Netflix that dropped all 8 episodes at once. Binge finished it in two nights. And now I'm just sitting here thinking about how back in the 90s you'd watch a show, talk about it at school or work the next day, wait a whole week for the next episode. The whole season would take months. Now it's like they want you to finish a whole show in one weekend. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like the stories hit different when you had time to sit with them. Like watching Twin Peaks week to week was this whole experience. Now it's just content to consume. Anyone else feel like the old way made shows stick with you more?

But do you think it's really about the pacing or more about how we used to talk about shows? Like waiting a week gave you time to actually discuss stuff with people, not just race through it alone.

Space it out yourself. Watch one episode a week, same as the old days.

Space it out yourself" works fine if you got the willpower of a monk. But the real trick is watching with someone else who hasn't seen it yet, then you got no choice but to wait for them to catch up.
