Hit 500 vinyl records in my collection and had a weird realization
I finally hit 500 records last weekend after digging through a $3 bin at a flea market in Des Moines. Turns out I haven't listened to half of them in over 5 years. Anyone else just stockpile stuff from the 70s and never actually play it?

Does @karenb97's sealed Rumours count as a vinyl or a really fancy paperweight? I've got a scratched copy of Boston's debut album that I keep around just so I can complain about the skip in "More Than a Feeling.

hit 500 vinyl records" and "haven't listened to half of them in over 5 years" - so you're just storing them at this point? What's the endgame, wait for a flood and a really bad insurance claim?

Oh man, that's the thing nobody talks about - the guilt factor. It's like you're carrying around this invisible weight of unplayed records every time you walk past your shelf. I've got a sealed copy of Rumours I bought three years ago because it was a first pressing for twelve bucks, and I literally cannot bring myself to open it because then it won't be "mint" anymore. But it's also just sitting there, being useless, taking up space. At least with CDs or digital you don't have this weird moral obligation to actually spin the thing.
