Vent: That $70 foam core insert I bought for my game collection turned into a disaster

I got really into storing my board games neatly last month. So I dropped $70 on this fancy custom foam core insert for my copy of Gloomhaven. The ad said it would hold everything perfectly and even cut down setup time. Well, my first try at fitting it in the box ended with a bunch of pieces flying everywhere. The foam core didn't line up right with the lid and I had to shove it all in. Now the box bulges like it's about to pop open. I ended up spending another 2 hours trimming the thing with a box cutter. Has anyone else had this happen with a pre-cut insert?

Oh man, that is just rough. I've been there with a different game, not Gloomhaven, but a similar situation where what was supposed to be a time-saver turned into an afternoon of frustration. It's especially maddening when you pay that much for the convenience and it fights you instead. Hope the trimming did the trick in the end, at least.

Agree with you @foster.tessa, and honestly it's part of a bigger thing I've noticed lately. Stuff that's supposed to make life easier seems to fight back harder than the original problem half the time. Like those self-checkout machines that act like they're having a stroke when you try to scan a banana. Or phone updates that somehow make your battery worse. Paying more for the "premium" version just means you get to be frustrated in higher quality material. Trimming did help mine eventually, but man, I spent an hour thinking "this was supposed to save me time.

Buddy of mine spent two hours fighting a $50 organizer insert for a different board game.
