Visited the Strand in NYC and finally get why people hate annotated copies
Watched a guy flip through a used copy with like 40 sticky notes and pen marks everywhere, and I used to think that was genius. Now I'd rather read a clean page and scribble in my own notebook, anyone else convert the other direction?
Grabbed a beat up copy of Gatsby once with some stranger's notes in the margin and it just felt like reading someone else's diary, not the book. Now I keep a separate notebook too, way better than trying to decode some random person's bad handwriting.
