Coptic stitch is overrated for daily use
Told my guild in Portland that I switched back to simple long stitch for journals I sell at the market. They looked at me like I insulted their grandma. Coptic looks great on a shelf, but the spine flexes too much for someone who actually throws a book in a bag. Anyone else find exposed bindings wear out faster with real handling?

Coptic looks great on a shelf" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Honestly, most people buying journals at a market are never going to notice the binding difference unless they're flipping through it like a magazine. Yeah, exposed spines flex more, but if you glue the sections right, it's not gonna fall apart in a week.

Pretty sure most folks can't even spot a coptic stitch from ten feet away, so what's the big deal anyway?
