PSA: Endpapers need more care than I ever thought
For ages, I rushed through attaching endpapers with fast glue. Believed it held fine and saved time. Then a custom order came back with the endpapers completely separated. The client was MAD and I had to refund them. I felt like a total amateur. Now I slow down, use a flexible glue, and press them for hours. The hold is ROCK solid and no more complaints. Wasting those early years on shoddy work still bugs me.

Totally get why you'd be bugged by those early years. I also used to rush that step and thought it was fine until a book fell apart on me. Slowing down with the right materials makes all the difference.

Isn't that what @lucash53 meant about shortcuts always failing later?

Yeah, I see this everywhere. People rush through things to save time, like skipping steps in a recipe or doing a bad job on home repairs. Then it blows up later, just like @bettym11 found out with her book. It's a trap we all fall into, thinking shortcuts work until they don't. Taking that extra time upfront always pays off in the end.
