inSaw a board game cafe in Austin with a whole wall of rulebooks
Actually used to think a physical rule wall was the BEST idea ever, like a cool library for games. But you're totally right about the update problem, it would be a full time job. The QR code thing is SO much smarter, no clutter and always current. Makes the binder system look ancient.

inWarning: I saw a huge difference in a brick wall after switching from a standard mix to a pre-blended mortar with plasticizer
That's interesting, but honestly I've seen plasticizer make things worse over time. It can trap extra water in the mix, and then when it freezes, that water expands and causes spalling. A lower water-to-cement ratio and proper air entrainment are way more important for freeze-thaw stuff.

inPro tip: I was crowding my air fryer basket for months
Single layer with space? That's a waste of time and power. I cram my basket full every time. You just need to shake it more. I dump a whole bag of fries in, shake it hard halfway through, and they come out fine. If your food is soggy, you're not cooking it long enough or hot enough. My chicken is always fine piled on top of itself. People make this way too complicated.

inMy service van odometer rolled over 200,000 miles this morning
Honestly, the cabin air filter. Ngl, I forget about it for ages but a clean one seems to help the whole AC system last longer.

inPSA: I just paid $200 for a 'deepfake detection' tool that totally failed me
Wait, didn't we all think these tools were getting good? I used to tell people to just run stuff through a detector. But after seeing that Wired article paulw53 mentioned, and now your story, it's clear they're just guessing. They can't keep up with the free apps. My friend had a fake audio clip of our boss, and two different services said it was real. It makes you wonder, what are we even paying for?
