My old coworker got fired over a joke tweet about our office coffee
He posted a picture of our burnt coffee pot last year with a caption like 'the real reason for our high turnover' and tagged the company. He was gone by Friday. The thing is, our coffee machine actually got replaced with a nice new one the next week, so his tweet kinda worked. Do you think that was a fair reason to fire someone?

They fired him over a coffee pot picture? That's wild.

Used to agree, but that photo was really bad.

Honestly, it's not fair at all. My last job had a manager who would fire people for posting anything online, even a picture of the parking lot. It created such a scared, quiet office. Getting rid of a burnt coffee pot is a good thing, and firing someone for pointing it out just shows they care more about their image than fixing real problems.

Man, that's brutal. I once got in trouble for complaining about the weird smell in a break room fridge, but getting fired for a coffee pot pic is next level. At least they fixed the problem after making him the example, which feels extra messed up. Companies that can't take a joke are the worst to work for anyway.
