Serious question, I just finished my 50th book and the number really hit me
It's not a big deal for a pro, but for a hobbyist who started with a kit two years ago, it feels huge. The first one was a mess of crooked stitches and uneven boards. Has anyone else had a personal count that made you stop and look at your own progress?

Is it that deep though? Fifty books is a nice round number, sure, but it sounds like you're putting a ton of weight on it being some big milestone. I mean, I get being proud of getting better at a hobby, but calling it a "line in the sand" feels like you're building it up into something it might not be. Two years is a pretty normal amount of time to get decent at a craft, and crooked stitches just come with the territory at first. Maybe it's just me, but the real progress is probably happening book by book, not all at once when you hit a random count.

My local library has a shelf for community projects, and you can watch the quality shift over the months. The fiftieth book is a real line in the sand. It's the point where you stop being the person who does a thing and become the person who is good at the thing. That quiet pride in your own hands is a feeling more people should get to have.

It reminds me of when my dad insisted on hand-washing his truck for ten straight Saturdays before he'd let anyone else touch it. By the tenth wash he had the foam ratio perfect and I swear that truck looked better than the day he drove it off the lot.
