Just figured out why my grocery bill was so high last month

I kept buying pre-shredded cheese and pre-cut veggies out of laziness, and last month I added it up - I was spending almost $15 extra per week just for someone else to chop stuff. Has anyone else caught themselves paying way too much for convenience stuff without realizing it?

Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah $15 extra a week adds up over time but if it saves you 30 minutes of chopping and grating then maybe it's worth it. I buy pre-chopped onions sometimes because I hate crying over a cutting board and I'm not gonna stress over a couple bucks. Like unless you're on a super tight budget just enjoy the convenience and move on.

Totally agree @jamesf29, I do the same with pre-cut garlic and it's worth every penny.

The real question is whether your time is worth more than $15 a week or not. Guess my time is only worth about $2.13 an hour based on my chopping speed. Might need to start paying myself overtime rates. At least now I can afford that extra avocado when I slice it myself, so that's a win.
