My uncle told me to stop buying brand-name trash bags and I fought him on it for a year
He swore the store brand ones from Aldi were just as tough, so finally I tried a box in February and they've held up through coffee grounds and chicken bones without a single rip. Saved about $8 a month which doesn't sound like much but adds up to almost a hundred bucks a year. Has anyone else been stubborn about switching a boring household item and regretted not listening sooner?

Eight bucks a month on trash bags is really nothing to stress over, @mark_ward. A hundred bucks a year sounds like a lot but that's like one nice dinner out, not exactly life changing money. Save it if you want, but acting like it's a huge deal feels a little overblown.

@brianreed I see what you're saying but $8 a month is still real money when you add it up, especially for something that literally gets thrown in the trash. A hundred bucks a year buys a nice dinner out or a few cases of beer.

Whoa hold on, you're actually spending $8 a month on trash bags? That's like one whole takeout meal right there. I mean, good on you for saving with Aldi, but $8 a month seems low for a family. Unless you're single and barely fill a bag.
