Cut off my sister after she borrowed $3,000 for 'rent' and I spotted her new engagement ring on Facebook a week later
That ring was $4,500 minimum and she didn't even pay me back a cent, so has anyone else had a sibling straight up lie about why they needed cash?

I mean not to be that person but are you totally sure the ring wasn't fake or maybe a family heirloom? Some of those CZ rings look dead on like real diamonds and cost like $50 on Etsy, I've seen them. And if she was really desperate for rent money she could have bought a cheap ring just to make her engagement look fancy on social media. Also $3,000 is a lot for rent in most places unless she's in NYC or San Fran, so maybe she just used you to cover a security deposit or something and used her own cash for the ring. Idk, either way she shouldn't have lied, but the ring price might not be as high as you think.

Right because nothing screams "I'm financially stable" like lying about a ring to cover rent money. Next level budgeting.

Honestly @blair_nguyen, I'd just ask for a receipt or screenshot before handing over cash, saves a lot of headaches.
