Hot take: My custom shutter speed mods on vintage cams cause drama
One side says tweaks like this ruin historical value, the other claims it makes them practical for actual shooting. I've been experimenting on my personal gear and got mixed reactions. Where do you stand?

Tried something similar with an old mechanical SLR last year. Honestly the mod made it way more usable in different light without changing how it looks. Purists will always complain but they're not the ones shooting with it every day. My take is if you own it and know what you're doing, a practical upgrade beats keeping it perfectly original on a shelf.

Totally agree. Purists don't pay your bills or develop your film.

Saw a piece about adding mirror lock-up to old film bodies. Honestly that seems like the perfect kind of mod, helps with long exposures without messing with the camera's soul. Some guy did it to his Pentax and swore it saved so many shots from vibration blur. Tbh tools are meant to be used, and if a small change makes you use it more, that's a win. Keeping something perfect but locked away feels like a waste.

Custom shutter speed mods on vintage cams? That's bold. I'd probably just screw up the whole camera trying something like that.
