A client told me to just 'figure it out' when I asked about the project scope

We were standing in his kitchen in Denver, and he waved his hand at a whole wall he wanted opened up. I asked for the blueprints and he just said 'I trust you, make it work'... Has anyone else had a client refuse to give clear details and then get mad later?

Oh man, that "I trust you" line is such a trap. Reminds me of when my aunt asked me to paint her living room "a nice blue." I went with this bold cobalt, she wanted baby blue. The whole "make it work" thing just means they don't want to do the thinking but will definitely have opinions later.

Classic move to avoid responsibility.

Had a friend who wanted a custom bookshelf. Wouldn't pick a height, just said "tall." I built it to the ceiling. Turns out he meant tall like a normal bookcase, not a library ladder situation. He was pretty quiet when he saw it. Still not sure if he was mad or impressed.
