A guy at a job fair in Grand Rapids told me to stop trying to be a 'perfect fit'

I was handing out my resume and he just said, 'Your story is about solving problems, not checking boxes. Tell them that.' I stopped rewriting my whole work history for each job and started getting more calls. Anyone else get better results by being less exact on paper?

Man, I rewrote my resume so many times it started to sound like a robot wrote it. No wonder nobody called.

My old boss in Detroit always wanted bullet points for every skill. That advice from Grand Rapids is way better.

Wait, your boss wanted bullet points for EVERY skill? @mary_nelson71 that sounds like a nightmare. No wonder people's resumes end up sounding fake.
