Thinking back on how I used to job hop every 18 months...
I remember back in 2013 when I left a solid gig in Denver just because I thought the next one would be better. Now I see coworkers who stay put for 5 or 6 years and they end up with way more stability and better raises than I ever got jumping around. I guess the real lesson is that loyalty at one place can actually pay off, but I'm still not sure if that's true for everyone. Has anyone else seen the same thing happen where they work?

Jumping around got me way bigger raises than staying put ever would.

Honestly same here, I was scared to leave my first job after 4 years but the second place gave me a 30% bump just for walking in the door. Then I did it again a couple years later and got another big jump that would've taken me maybe 5 more years to hit if I stayed. Nowadays I tell everyone starting out to move around every 2-3 years if the raises aren't keeping up.

Wait you actually got that much just from switching jobs? That's wild, I always figured loyalty would pay off somewhere.
