Had a client yell at me about my miter joints yesterday
She pointed out a 1mm gap on a crown molding install and said it looked like amateur hour. I spent the next 3 hours re-cutting everything and switched to a zero-clearance backer plate - never going back to the old setup. Anyone else had a homeowner call out something tiny that totally changed your method?

Bet that client saved you from a lifetime of mediocre joints though lol.

Did you ask her what she was looking at with it? I mean, was she just really particular or did she have a background in trim work herself? I've had a few clients who were former contractors and they always catch stuff like that, but it's never the actual homeowners who just think it looks good.
