A $1200 carpet job turned into a nightmare last Tuesday

I was installing a plush berber in a living room near downtown Austin and the customer's dog decided to run through a fresh glue line. It left paw prints smeared across 15 feet of carpet and I had to pull up two full seams to fix it. Took me an extra 4 hours and I nearly lost my cool. Has anyone else had a job go sideways because of a pet?

The customer should have had the dog secured elsewhere before you even started laying glue. A lot of homeowners don't understand how fast things can go wrong with fresh adhesive and an excited animal. Maybe add a line in your contract or estimates asking them to keep pets out of the work area during installation.

Yeah I used to just assume people would have the common sense to lock the dog away, but you're right, a lot of them just don't realize how fast glue works. That contractor clause is actually a solid idea, might start putting it in my own bids.

Had a buddy whose cat walked across wet concrete once, ruined his whole day.
