My kitchen's inventory system needs three clicks for a single onion.

It's supposed to make things easier, but it just adds pointless steps. I miss the old clipboard method.

Simple tools that just work often beat fancy ones that overcomplicate everything.

Have you seen those articles about how digital tools can sometimes make simple tasks harder? I read a piece last week saying that many apps add clicks just to feel more advanced. Your onion example is exactly what they meant, it turns a quick note into a chore. The old clipboard might seem low-tech, but if it gets the job done fast, why change it? Sometimes I wonder if we're just adding tech for tech's sake without real help.

That article @craig.alex mentioned sounds spot on... adding clicks just for the sake of it. What are some of the worst apps or tools you've seen for that, like note apps needing three menus just to change a font? Feels like a lot of calendar or project software does this now, where the old way was just typing on a line. Are we just putting up with bad design because it looks shiny?

Totally agree, my grocery app makes me confirm the store location THREE times before I can even see my list. Drives me nuts.
