I finally dumped my old rotary brush after a bad job on Maple Street
Last month I was cleaning a flue on Maple Street and that cheap rotary brush flung soot everywhere, even into the customer's living room. Took me two extra hours to clean up the mess. Has anyone else had a brush fall apart on them at the worst time?

My buddy Dave had a similar thing happen with his rotary brush up in Oakville. He was cleaning a fireplace and the whole head just spun right off the shaft, sending bristles flying everywhere like a angry metal porcupine. Took him an hour to find all the pieces in the carpet and he had to finish the job with a hand brush. He still talks about it every time someone brings up rotary brushes, says it's the worst tool failure he's ever had on the job.

Actually, rotary brushes on fireplace tools usually have a locking pin or set screw that keeps the head attached. If Dave's didn't have one, or the screw was loose, that's why it spun off like that. Most pros check those fasteners before every use to avoid that exact kind of mess.
