I was sure that fancy coolant monitor was a waste of money
My shop in Dayton got one last month and I rolled my eyes, but it caught a pump failure before it cooked a spindle. Anyone have a cheaper way to track coolant levels that actually works?

Kai_webb91 is right about float switches getting gummed up, they're a headache. My old shop tried a cheap pressure sensor on the return line that worked okay for a while. Honestly, most cheap fixes just aren't worth the trouble compared to a proper monitor.

Keith's right, cheap fixes always bite you later.

That coolant monitor probably paid for itself with one saved spindle. What brand did your shop in Dayton end up going with? I've seen some guys try float switches wired to a basic alarm, but they get gummed up fast.
