PSA: Started logging every tool change and it caught a MAJOR error yesterday.
Found a programming mistake before it scrapped a whole run.

Yeah that "feels super boring until it saves your butt" is so true. I messed up a client file version once because I was just saving over old files. Now I have to add a date and version number to every single file name, it's a pain but it stopped me from sending the wrong draft twice last month.

Watched my friend almost send the completely wrong budget spreadsheet to their boss because they had three versions open. They spent an hour fixing the numbers in one file but almost attached the old one from their downloads folder. Now they have this whole naming rule with dates and initials they swear by. Seems like such a boring step to always rename it right after saving. But they said that one dumb habit would have saved them from a huge mess. Totally fits that idea of boring stuff being a lifesaver.

Okay wow, I always thought logging stuff like that was a total waste of time. Seemed like just more paperwork to slow you down. But hearing it actually caught a real mistake is a game changer. That's like when I finally started writing down apartment numbers for packages instead of just trying to remember them. Feels super boring until it just saved your butt. Good call.

Oh man, totally! It's all about those boring little rules that feel pointless until they're not. Like what @blairc90 said about file names, I started doing that too after I almost sent a report with last month's data. Now I add "FINAL" and the date, and it's so dumb but it works. It's just like double-checking an address before you hit send on an email. You don't wanna be the person who messes up because you skipped the two-second boring step.
