That $60 espresso attachment I bought for my drip machine was a total bust

I saw this stainless steel espresso adapter online that claimed to turn any coffee maker into an espresso machine. Spent 60 bucks on it two months ago and after 3 tries I got nothing but watery brown sludge. The pressure just isn't there with a standard drip machine. Anyone else fall for these cheap add-on gadgets?

Yeah that "turns any coffee maker into espresso" line is super misleading. Even the cheapest espresso machines use 9 bars of pressure, and a drip machine does maybe 0.1 bars at best. lol I tried one of those metal filters that sit in the basket, same result - just brown water. You really need the pressure to get that crema and thick texture.

@the_sam nailed it - 0.1 bars of pressure won't ever make crema.

Brown water" is right, I got the exact same sad cup of sludge.
