Took me 3 hours to fix a leaky drysuit zipper that should have been 20 minutes
Last Saturday I had a tiny weep on my SI Tech zipper. Thought it was just lube buildup so I wiped it down, but nope, still leaking. Ended up taking the whole zipper slide apart, finding a piece of old wax stuck in the track, cleaning it out with a toothbrush, and then rewaxing. Rookie mistake not checking the track first. Has anyone else found random junk jamming up their zipper that took forever to track down?

That piece of old wax being jammed in the track thing really got me thinking. When you pulled the zipper slide apart was it caked on there or like one solid chunk? I had a similar headache last year with a drysuit zipper where I found a tiny grain of sand stuck under the teeth, took me forever to spot because it blended right in with the wax. Did you use anything special to clean the track out or just the toothbrush and some elbow grease? Sometimes I wonder if these zippers just collect random debris from storage bags or what.

Wendy820's missing the point (no offense Wendy). That wax chunk was like a solid little hockey puck jammed in there, not just caked on dust. I used a plastic pick from a gift card I cut up, then hit it with isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip before the toothbrush. Sand is the worst because it grinds the teeth down. Storage bags shed lint like crazy too.

Nah, you're overthinking it. A toothbrush and wax is all you EVER need for a drysuit zipper.
