I finally connected the dots on the sudden bike lane closures in my area
In my neighborhood, the city put in bike lanes last year, but now they're closing them for 'maintenance' every other week. My friend mentioned a rumor that it's to discourage cycling and boost car sales. At first I laughed, but then I saw the same construction company at all the sites. In my experience, when things don't add up, there's usually more to the story.

That construction company getting every single closure contract is insane. @oliver_campbell9 might be joking about the plot, but when one firm has a total lock on "maintenance" it stops looking like chance. It really does make the whole bike lane project seem fake, like they never wanted it to work in the first place.

Does this mean my inability to ride a bike without wobbling is part of a bigger plot? I always thought I was just bad at balancing, but maybe the city is secretly trying to phase out cyclists like me. Seeing the same construction company at every site does make you wonder what's really going on. In my experience, if it looks like a scheme and feels like a scheme, it probably is one.

Seriously, how does that even happen without someone asking questions? I feel for you, @oliver_campbell9, because it does look super shady. When you see the same crew at every single blocked lane, it stops being about bad luck. It really does seem like the whole project was set up to fail from the start, which is just so frustrating for everyone who wanted to use it.
